It’s time we do the same for them. John F. Kennedy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1941 and rose to the rank of Lieutenant. Honoring their Sacrifice The freedom we enjoy today is the direct result of the efforts made by countless brave men and women. They stood on the front lines, giving their all to protect and serve our nation . Together, their hands once held weapons to defend us. Did you know? 31 out of 44 presidents have served in the military. But.. there’s more! When President Teddy Roosevelt joined the military, he earned the highest honor- the Medal of Honor. Protecting their Legacy Unfortunately, after the battles have ended, some veterans struggle to transition from war to civilian life. Many of them go through a hard time and fight a battle within themselves. They don’t deserve this. So.. what should we do? We must ensure they receive the care and respect they want and need. How We Can Help Now, we can give back to them, whether tangible or intangible. We can offer emotional support. A simple greeting or chit-chat is enough to complete their day. A smile might even light their mood. Or a random thank you will surely bring joy to their hearts. By giving them what they deserve, we honor their bravery and ensure their legacy lives on for generations. You Can Make a Difference As a society, there are countless ways to support the veterans. Now is the time to act- to make a difference. It’s our turn to extend a hand to them through veteran health services, employment opportunities, outreach programs, volunteering, financial assistance, or by donating.
